Acne Control Skin Care – 7 Tips
What is a proper acne control skin care? With so many skin products it is easy to damage your skin instead of helping it. For example, alcohol based cleansers or serious scrubbing will only make your acne worse. Find out how to give your face best acne skin care.
1. Clean your skin with gentle cleansers
Use mild cleansing agent on acne affected skin. Gently rub it in twice a day. If the weather is very hot or you do a lot of exercise makes sure to wash the sweat of your face. Bacteria can accumulate on your face when you are sweating. You can use an astringent cleanser for washing your face. Best cleansers contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, licochalone, chamomile, aloe vera, feverfew, and niacinamide. Avoid acne cleanser with high alcohol content, they will dry your skin.
Be careful not to overdo it with the cleansing. Using acne cleanser five times a day instead of two won’t help. Actually it can only make your skin more irritated. Scrubbing acne affected skin is also a bad idea; it will only make acne worse.
2. Use exfoliating acne skin care products
Exfoliating means removing dead skin sells from the surface of your skin. Not only these sells make your skin look dull, they are also a good food for bacteria. At home you can use mild exfoliating scrubs about once a week. For a more dramatic effect ask a dermatologist if dermabrasion or a chemical peel can help you to get rid of acne.
3. Simplest rule of acne skin care – no squeezing and pinching
Don’t tease your skin. It might be very tempting to get rid of these terrible whiteheads by squeezing them, but they will only pop up again and look even more awful then before. And it can also leave a scar on your skin.
4. Sun is the enemy of acne affected skin
Sun is damaging for any skin, but it is particularly dangerous when you have acne. First, acne makes your skin more sensitive. Second, most acne medications like cleansers and acne creams make your skin more susceptible to sun damage. Using a sun block cream is not a good idea, most sun screen creams are oil based. So for proper acne skin care stay out of the sun or wear a hat.
5. Shave with care when you have acne
Shaving can be a problem. Whether you use electric razor or a safety razor take extra care when shaving, if you have acne. If you use a safety razor, make sure it is very sharp. It is best to use disposable razors. Soften your beard with water and soap before putting a shaving cream on. It is recommended to use shaving creams for sensitive skin. And, most important, don’t shave very often, because every shaving disturbs your skin and can make blemishes worse.
6. Select make-up carefully
Make-up can help to hide acne and acne scars, but you have to be careful applying it. Only select water based (not oil based) congealers and foundations. Avoid cheap cosmetic, it can damage your skin farther. If you use blush, go for a powder blush instead of a stick blush, it is less likely to clog your pores.
Remove your make up as soon as you get home. Even the best cosmetic is not really good for acne affected skin. It can clog your pores causing more acne breakouts. If you notice that your acne are getting worse, switch to a different brand make up. And don’t use make-up unless absolutely necessary – decorative cosmetic is not a friend for acne skin care.
7. Keep dirty hands off your face
When working in the garden or doing any other dirty work, never touch your face. It can transfer bacteria to your skin and cause an acne breakout.
Stick to these simple rules of best acne skin care. Combined with a good acne treatment or medication they will help you to clean your face of acne and bring back your beautiful skin.

What’s a good skin care routine for oily and acne-prone skin?
I have had acne for 2 years since grade 7. (When I got my bangs) That’s when it started.
I have been trying to get rid of it, and it really brings my self-confidence down!
Please help me, and give me tips of what facial cleanser I should switch to and a good skin care routine to get rid of my acne.
I have really oily and acne-prone skin because of genetics. But, there must be some way to get rid of it!
I am currently using:
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Facial Wash, Scrub, and Toner.
Clean & Clear Day and Night Moisturizer (Oil-Free)
It makes my skin feel great, but it’s not working!
It takes about 2 weeks before a pimple goes away and between that time, a new one appears!
What products do you reccommend?
& Does good sleep and a healthy diet affect your acne?
Also, for oily/acne-prone skin people out there, what products are YOU using?
Thanks in advance!
P.S Sorry for posting this twice, I wanted to move it to a different category.
Products I have tried:
Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control
St. Ives Apricot Scrub
Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Wash
Neutrogena Plum Scrub? (The pink one) I forgot the name.
@MAMI_Elisa: Is Dove Moisturizing Bar okay to use before applying the benzoyl peroxide?
olay is really good for oily skin
tone twice a day and make sure you moisture just as much
sleep and healthy diet does effect your acne.
use blemish creams for speedy removals of pimples

A few years ago, I started to break out REALLY bad! I had pimples everywhere–I thought it would never end.
I spent literally $1000′s trying to fix it, but everything would just aggravate my skin even more. Finally, I tried the ACNE.ORG regimine: http://www.acne.org/
It calls for a mild cleanser, like Cetaphil, 2% Benzoyl Peroxide, and a really good moisturizer. After you wash your face, you spread the Benzoyl Peroxide ALL over your face, let it dry [about 10-20 min.], then use your moisturizer. This cleared up my skin in 3 1/2 weeks.
Let me warn you though, your skin can, and most likely will, get very dry and might burn the first week or so that you use the Benzoyl Peroxide. It is VERY drying, so using a good, thick moisturizer afterwards is essential. Also, be sure it is 2%, not anything higher. Using the BP also increases your chances of hyperpigmentation afterwards because it is not allowing oxygen to your pimple.
Currently, to keep my skin clear, I use Cetaphil Daily Cleanser. It’s very mild–sometimes, we tend to use really harsh cleansers on our face in hopes of clearing up our skin, but that could be aggravating your skin even more. THEN, I use a mild toner and follow that with Cetaphil Moisturizer. This has worked extremely well for me. Try switching your products to something a little more mild, maybe something that is not specifically designed for acne and see what happens.
To answer your other question, I know that sleep makes a HUGE difference with my skin. After a good 8 hours of sleep, my skin is gorgeous in the morning–but, anything less and I look dull. If I go a week without getting good sleep, I WILL break out. Along with sleeping, drink LOTS of water. Everyone says it, but it’s so true. I aim for a gallon a day, sometimes I get there and sometimes I don’t. I workout so my body requires a little more than if you were sedentary. My skin is GLOWING when I stay good about drinking plenty of water. My advice is drink when you’re thirsty–sip water all day long!

Here is a home-made skin care facial.
I have tried this and trust me it works like a charm!
Its called an Egg mask facial.
what you need:
2 bowls
1 egg
1 fork
Instructions:
Crack open the egg and seperate the yolks.so let the whites go in one bowl and the yolk in the other (try your best to get as much whites away from the yolk) then take a fork and beat (stir) the egg whites until it gets bubbly or foamy. Then with 2 fingers dip your finger in the bowl in and out about 2 times and apply on to your face so it gets coverage. next wait until your face feels really hard sort of like botox. Rinse it off after that. then break the yolk and do the same you would with the white ( do not stir up the yolk). The apply a moistroizer, when its dried up take a piece of ice and rub around your skin. Repeat about once a week.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
Good luck and enjoy!
